Sharecroppers logo

The Sharecroppers have been in existence for about four years now.The release of their first CD Finger Lickin' Good on COWPIE last fall has paved the way to some advances for the band. Nationwide distribution is in the works and a media campaign is being prepared to promote the recording at the appropriate radio stations.

In the mean-time they have begun to record some new tunes at Kingsize B which may be released as an EP or saved for the next album. The direction of this material is a little more rock oriented with a bit of a poppier feel than FLG

. Included in this round is a "way cool" instrumental called Once Upon A Time At The Deja-Vu. This is kind of a send-up of the spaghetti western theme genre with some very "spooky" guitar from Ron Cannon. Another cut is a San Francisco psychedelic jam in the vein of Quicksilver Messenger Service or the Dead. Cowpie plans to give this away as a free Real Audio file as soon as it is finished.

PULSARS

Harry Trumfio, the drummer with the Sharecroppers, just signed a multi-million dollar contract with Almo records with his band the Pulsars. The Pulsars are composed of Harry and his brother Dave and a DAT machine. Their live performance consists of the two of them playing guitar and drums along with a tape of bass, keyboards and various background sounds. This may sound a bit stifling at first but, they manage to put on a lively show in spite of being locked into this fixed format.

They released an EP last fall and an album is scheduled for release soon in 1997. Herb Alpert (co-owner of Almo) stopped by and overdubbed some trumpet parts on a few of the cuts. The boys are now on tour around the States. Stay tuned for current dates.

The Pulsars material is not handled by us.
They are just friends we thought you should know about.

The R I P T O N E S

This is Chicago's hardest working "roots/alternative country" band. These boys have been ripping up stages far and wide for the past five years. Jeb Bonansinga and his brother " Ranger" Tod head up this thoroughly entertaining fivesome along with Earl (nobody seems to know his last name) on the standup bass, Andon T. Davis on various lead stringed instruments, and Tommy Harmon on the drums. Their live shows are a kinetic affair with Earl hurling his "doghouse" bass around the stage and the rest of the fellers running to stay out of the way. They put on a wild show at the South X Southwest Conference this spring and made lots of contacts to help move their career along.

Their first album,Cool Hand is a strong seller into it's second pressing. Classic rockabilly rave-ups like the instrumental Don't Touch My Hair (well not quite an instrumental, the only lyric is the title!), Carry On which vows to carry the spirit of the hillbilly rockers since the birth of R&R,and Cool Hand ("Sometimes nothin' is a real cool hand.....") show off the superb writing and twisted sense of humor of songmeister Jeb Bonansinga.
